Jan Kawulok, jak już pisaliśmy, był jednym z trzech kandydatów na dyrektora Cieszyńskiego Pogotowia Ratunkowego. Na nowym stanowisku może liczyć na niewiele mniej - około 8 tys. zł. Pensja dyrektora nie została jeszcze ostatecznie ustalona, ale - według Szczurka - raczej nie należy się spodziewać, aby Kawulok otrzymał mniej, niż jego poprzednik w pogotowiu Edward Czaja. Według władz powiatu, pogotowie może sobie pozwolić na takie wynagrodzenie dla dyrektora, gdyż jednostka „nie przynosi strat".
